The idea is simple. What if we collectively directed our social energy towards creating a relational movement at the dawn of the year? What if on Friday Feb 7th thousands of single adult men throughout the world took a strong step of initiative? The simple act of asking a lady out, a promising woman with marriage potential, could change everything. These exciting dates would commence amidst the Valentine’s Day fanfare.
Shouldn’t Valentine’s Day spur action towards potential love?
Born out of a conversation with my wife Jennifer, we realized that Valentine’s Day needs a perception audible. It should be seen as the best time of the year to initiate a relationship, not simply a time for singles to run for cover. Men need to know that the majority of women not in a relationship are highly interested in a Valentine’s date. It’s not weird or overly mushy to ask her out for that day. Setting up that mid-February dinner is smooth and stellar!
Instead of only a time to commemorate existing love, prospective couples should feel complete freedom to claim bistro tables and buy candies – to reach for love. It’s time for boldness on V-Day to make a comeback! Getting married lies at the heart of the original Valentine, an early Christ follower imprisoned for performing the wedding ceremonies of Roman soldiers.
As a married couple who joyfully met for the first time on Valentine’s Day 2007, we’re believers in the power of this night! Let’s all recognize that Valentine’s Day has as much to do with singles getting married as it does with celebrating established relationships and marriages.
